Artist Area

The Artist Area is the central meeting point for all those who want to present their own art relating to manga, comics, anime and Asian culture. This is where illustrators, hobbyists and designers showcase their handmade works - from illustrations and prints to homemade merchandise. The Artist Area offers individual artists and small groups of artists the opportunity to present their work to a broad, enthusiastic audience and engage directly with visitors.

Participation limit

• The number of participants is limited. The final number depends on the space available and is at the sole discretion of Leipziger Messe GmbH.
• The waiting list comprises 20 places.
• Participants will be curated and drawn by lot.
• The waiting list places will be drawn by lot.
• Simultaneous participation in the New Artist Alley and Artist Area is not possible. Registration is only permitted for one of the two areas.

Conditions of participation

The exact conditions of participation for the Artist Area can be found in point 1.26.1 of the special conditions of participation. The most important points are listed below:

• Participants must be at least 18 years old
• only individual artists, artist duos and trios or circles may participate, provided they have already registered as such when applying
• Multiple applications are not permitted and may lead to exclusion from the application process
• Parallel individual applications from a registered duo, trio or circle also count as multiple applications
• Sharing the stand with other artists is generally permitted. All artists represented at the stand must be named as co-exhibitors in the application and subsequent exhibitor registration.
• The stand must be manned on all four days of the fair from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

All exhibitors at the Manga Comic Con should pay particular attention to point 1.11 ‘Products’ of the special conditions of participation. This point regulates what may and may not be sold. The most important points are listed below:

• Legal framework: All applicable copyrights, third-party rights and German law must be observed
• Protection of minors: Due to the high number of underage visitors, the provisions of the Youth Protection Act must be strictly observed. Products with content glorifying violence, pornographic or adult content must not be freely accessible to minors.
• Lucky Bags and similar offers: Content and value must be transparent. Purchasers must be able to see from the outside which products are included. The value of the goods must be at least 90% of the retail price. In the Artist Area and the New Artist Alley, self-made products or works of art may be offered in such formats.
• Games of chance: The offering of paid games of chance (e.g. raffles, wheels of fortune, gacha games) is not permitted.
• Fanart: The sale of fanart is tolerated in the Artist Area and the New Artist Alley, provided there is no violation of applicable German law. Fan art may make up a maximum of 50% of the entire product range and stand area.
• AI-generated products: Works created in whole or in part with the aid of generative artificial intelligence may not be exhibited or sold.
